Chairman’s comment
Chairman Ashwin Muthiah said rising input costs put pressure on margins and profitability. He said SPIC would continue to focus on operational efficiency and cost optimisation and was working with the government on the timely availability of fertilisers.
Fertiliser sector overview
The release said the 2026 southwest monsoon ended with a rainfall deficit of 12.6% and fertiliser inventories reached a two-year high ahead of the rabi season. Fertiliser sales across major categories declined during April–September 2026 compared with the corresponding period in 2025. Domestic urea production increased by 4.0% during that period.
